If you’ve never checked out a Brock University sporting event, Saturday may be the best day to do it.
Over a six-hour span, four different Badgers teams will be competing in playoff games on campus at Brock U.
First up will be the Brock Badgers Women’s Basketball team taking on Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) at 2 pm inside Bob Davis Gymnasium.
The Badgers are coming off a first-place regular season, meaning an Ontario University Athletic (OUA) Central Division Championship, in which the team finished with a 17-5 record.
TMU finished its regular season at 16-6.
St. Catharines native Madelyn Weinart led the OUA in scoring with 22.5 points per game.
Two hours later, right across the street at Canada Games Park, the Brock Badgers Men’s Hockey team will welcome Windsor in Game 2 of their best of three playoff series. Game 1 was played Thursday night at Windsor, while Game 3 (if necessary) will be this Sunday Feb. 25 at Canada Games Park.
The Badgers won the OUA West with a record of 21-7 while Windsor finished fourth at 15-13.
Brock is led by former St. Catharines Jr. B Falcon Jacob Roach, who has 40 points on the season, while Niagara Falls native and former Fort Erie Meteor Jared Marino is team captain.
Puck drop is 4 pm Saturday.
After the Bob Davis Gymnasium is cleared with basketball fans, volleyball fans move in for a double header of Brock Badgers action.
First the women’s team, which is currently ranked No. 2 in the country (USports), takes on Western at 6 pm.
The Badgers wrapped up their regular season with an impressive 18-2 record, while the Mustangs were 9-11.
Brock features a plethora of local talent including third year players Sadie Dick of St. Catharines and Emily Foest of Fonthill.
At 8 pm, the men’s team, which finished with a 15-5 regular season record, also welcomes Western, which ended the season with a 13-7 record.
The men’s volleyball team is also well represented with talent from the Niagara Region, including fourth year players Justin Rulli-Levere of Beamsville and Fonthill’s Sauli Lianga.
“We are so excited to be hosting four thrilling playoff games at Brock this Saturday with winners advancing to the next round with potential playoff berths for nationals on the line,” said Brock Sports and Recreation Executive Director Melissa Krist. “We hope to have our community out in full support to pack the Bob Davis Gym and Canada Games Park Arena.”

Meanwhile, the Badgers will compete on the road in Women’s and Men’s Track & Field and Men’s Basketball.
The Badgers Men’s Basketball team upset the Carleton Ravens 70-69 in Ottawa Wednesday night. It ended the Ravens’ 22 year run appearing in the Men’s Final 8 in Canadian University Basketball.
