Niagara Region officially has two new Deputy Chiefs of Police. Both men, Superintendents Todd Waselovich and Luigi Greco, have served with the Niagara Regional Police Service for over two decades.
The announcement was made by Board Chair Jen Lawson last week.
“We are pleased to welcome Deputy Chief Todd Waselovich and Deputy Chief Luigi Greco to their new roles,” said Lawson. “Their proven dedication and commitment to police leadership and public safety in Niagara Region will serve the community and its residents well.”
One of the vacancies had to be filled when Bill Fordy was promoted to Police Chief earlier this year. The other was created when former deputy chief Brett Flynn decided to retire after former police chief Bryan MacCulloch announced his own retirement.
Both Waselovich and Greco released statements regarding their appointments.
“It is a true privilege to have been selected by the Board to serve in this role,” said Waselovich. “In am honoured to work with our Board, Chief Bill Fordy, and Deputy Chief Luigi Greco and all the men and women of the Niagara Police Service, as we continue to build strong community partnerships and advance public safety in Niagara Region.”
Waselovich rose through the ranks, from frontline patrol to detective to special investigative services, and most recently served as the Superintendent of Emergency and Investigative Services.
Greco also rose through the ranks, beginning like Waselovich on frontline patrol and later serving in detective services, special crime investigations and most recently as Superintendent of Investigative Services.
“I am honoured to have been selected for this position,” said Greco. “I look forward to working closely with the Board, Chief of Police Fordy, Deputy Chief Waselovich, our leadership team and our incredible NRPS members to enhance public safety, reduce crime, and prioritize member wellness. I am committed to working collaboratively with residents of our great Region to provide the highest levels of effective policing.”

Fordy also released a statement expressing his pleasure with Waselovich’s and Greco’s appointments, noting that he looks “forward to working with them, and, as a team, the members of the Board and the entire service as they assume their new leadership positions.”
It is notable that both Waselovich and Greco have spent their careers in Niagara. Much of Fordy’s prior experience came while serving in various roles in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.
Combined, Fordy, Waselovich and Greco have more than 80 years of service.
