As the municipality of Niagara Falls continues to grow, an increasing number of families are accessing education for their children. With this reality in mind, the Ontario government has announced a project to build a new elementary school in the south end of the city.
Niagara West Member of Provincial Parliament Sam Oosterhoff commented on the announcement: “The approval of the new South Niagara Falls Elementary School is great news for our region. This investment will ensure students and families in Niagara Falls have access to a quality learning environment in the years ahead.”

Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati was also excited by the announcement.
“The benefits of this new elementary school for families in our city are immeasurable,” Diodati said. “We are grateful for this investment of the Ontario government and far-reaching impact it will have in our community.”
Sue Barnett, Chair of the District School Board of Niagara, noted that this announcement will make a major impact in the Niagara Falls community and expressed gratitude to the education ministry for making the investment. She also mentioned how important having another school in the area will be in childcare provision.
The new school project is a key component of the provincial government’s objective to optimize school board capital assets to support growing municipalities across Ontario as outlined in the Better Schools and School Outcomes Act.
“We are determined to build schools and expansions faster, part of our commitment to modernize schools in fast growing communities,” said Stephen Lecce, Ontario’s Minister of Education. “We are proud to deliver a new state-of-the-art South Niagara Falls Elementary School for local families, along with increasing funding, staffing and a back-to-basics focus on reading, writing and math skills to help ensure students graduate with confidence that they can succeed in good-paying careers.”
Upon completion, the South Niagara Falls Elementary School will be located at the intersection of Kalar Road and McLeod Road in Niagara Falls. Those interested in learning more about the Better Schools and Student Outcomes Act can do so at the following link:
