Niagara Children’s Centre recognized with international award

CARF was reportedly not only pleased by the efficiency and vibrance of Niagara Children’s Centre programs, but also with the tangible impact that these services are having on the lives of clients and their families

The Niagara Children’s Centre has been recognized with a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities International (CARF), it was announced on Feb. 15. The award was given to the Niagara Children’s Centre for their prestige in innovation, client satisfaction, superb service delivery and active community involvement.

“I am pleased that the surveyors were able to observe, hear and experience what makes our Centre such a special place,” Oksana Fisher, Chief Executive Officer for the Niagara Children’s Centre, shared in a recent comment. “I am so proud of the work our team does every day, and this accreditation award validates our commitment to delivering family-centred care and ensuring the highest quality of services for our clients. The surveyors consistently heard positive feedback from our staff, the families we serve, our community partners and referral sources.”

The three-year CARF accreditation, which is reserved as an exclusive honour and status, is the highest level of recognition that an organisation in the field can receive. It is only bestowed on firms following an extensive peer-review stage, including an on-site evaluation in which its programs and service delivery are measured for quality assurance and excellence. CARF visited the Niagara Children’s Centre for two days in December 2023, where it engaged with leaders, employees and clients.

CARF International, which was founded in 1966, serves as an independent non-profit accreditor for health and human services. Their mission is stated as “to promote the quality, values and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process and continuous improvement services that centre on enhancing the lives of persons served.”

Following their visit, the surveyors noted the “commitment, enthusiasm, expertise and experience of the organisation’s personnel,” the Niagara Children’s Centre shared in a recent media release. CARF was reportedly not only pleased by the efficiency and vibrance of Niagara Children’s Centre programs, but also with the tangible impact that these services are having on the lives of clients and their families. CARF was additionally impressed by various community initiatives that the Children’s Centre has participated in, including but not limited to the 2022 Canada Summer Games, Trunk or Treat, and the Superhero Run.
