Families welcoming new life in Niagara now have a new way to celebrate those moments while giving back to local healthcare.
The Niagara Health Foundation has launched its new “Baby Wall,” a recognition installation located on the fourth floor of the Women’s & Baby Unit at Marotta Family Hospital. The initiative invites families to commemorate newborns or loved ones while supporting care programs for women, babies, and families across the region.
Designed as a tree-themed display, the Baby Wall allows families to add a child’s name and in some cases, a photo creating a growing visual tribute to new beginnings. Each contribution becomes part of the installation for a 12-month period.
Families can participate at different levels. A $200 donation adds a baby’s name and birthdate to a leaf placed within the tree’s branches, while a $500 donation includes placement on a featured apple, complete with a photo alongside the name and birthdate.
Proceeds from the initiative are directed toward priority needs in Niagara Health’s Women & Babies programs, as well as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), helping ensure access to specialized care close to home.
“This is a joyful way for families to celebrate one of life’s most special milestones while making a real difference,” said Andrea Scott, President and CEO of the Niagara Health Foundation. “For many families, Niagara Health is where their story begins. The Baby Wall offers a meaningful way to honour that experience while helping support care for others.”
Beyond celebration, the Baby Wall also offers families an opportunity to recognize the healthcare professionals who supported them through pregnancy, delivery, and early neonatal care. The installation is intended to strengthen the connection between patients and the care teams who play a role in those early milestones.
